…arrest 13 more suspects

By Hassan Zaggi

In an effort to restore normalcy in Plateau State, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali, has deployed Police Surveillance Helicopter, 2 Units of Police Mobile Force (PMF) and 2 Cells of Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) to the state.

This is even as 13 more suspects have been arrested in connection to the crisis the engulfed parts of the state last weekend. This, however, brings the total number of suspects arrested to 33.

It would be recalled that the IGP announced on Sunday that 20 suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack while 33 victims have been rescued.

In a statement signed by the Force Spokesman, Frank Mba, in Abuja, Monday, the IGP assured the Nigeria Police Force remained committed to working with other patriotic stakeholders toward restoring public order in Plateau and other parts of the country.

The surveillance helicopter is expected to carry out aerial surveillance and confidence-boosting patrols within the hotspots in coordinated operations with the ground troops.

It would further be recalled that following the crisis that resulted in the killing of scores of persons last weekend in the Rukuba area of Jos South local government area, the Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, announced the imposition of curfew in three local governments areas including Jos North, Bassa and Jos South.

While Jos North was slammed 24 hours indefinite curfew, Jos North and Jos South got 12 hours each, that 6am to 6pm.
