Ebonyi Fed College Provost raises the alarm over employment scam

From Zara Nwachinemere Abakaliki,

The Provost of the newly established Federal College of Education Technical, Isu, in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Prof Reuben Okechukwu, has raised the alarm over employment scam in the college.

The Provost, disclosed this during his recent visit to the Institution site at Isu on inspection tour.

Prof. Okechukwu, hinted that unsuspecting members of the public were being extorted by impostors who promised giving them jobs in the college.

He warned job seekers not to pay anyone for employment, stating that the college was not recruiting at the moment even as he warned fraudsters to desist from defrauding people.

He advised prospective applicants to be calm and vigilant and wait for a time when the school would carry out its recruitment exercise according to the process recognized by law.

The Provost reiterated that the newly established college will not carry out employment exercise without approval from the office of the head of service of the federation.

He stated: “The attention of the Provost of the college has been drawn to rumor-making the rounds that the school has commenced recruitment of staff.

“Ordinarily, the gossip would be ignored as street talk and a product of ignorance since there is no way the college could conduct its recruitment of staff without due approval from the office of the head of the service of the federation.

“It is therefore imperative to state explicitly that the buzz was a complete falsehood, unfounded, fallacious which exists only in the imagination of mischief makers and the marauders laying siege to hoodwink unsuspecting job seekers and leak their purse.

“While we warn the purveyors of this antic to desist from the act before the eyes of the law beams on them, it is also urgent to forewarn that anybody paying to any person to secure a job in the college is doing so at personal risk.

“I want to use this opportunity to call on the general public to disregard the speculations while enjoining prospective applicants to remain calm and vigilant waiting for such a time when the school would carry out its recruitment exercise according to the process recognized by law.

He commended the state government for its support towards the take of the school by October this year.

“The principal staff of the federal college of education technical, Isu. commends the governor, Engr. David Umahi on his speedy approval and release of the land documents for the permanent site as well as consent for relocation of students from the temporary site of the college.

“The dispatch release of the exchange documents of the land is a testament to the governor’s commitment to the development of Education and demonstration of his relentless support to accelerate the commencement of academic activities in the college by September/October 2021 as earlier revealed by the Provost”.
