Insecurity: Group hails Farouk on fight against terrorism

Global Peace Movement Intentional, UK has commended Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.Gen. Farouk Yahaya for sustaining the fight against terrorism in Nigeria.

GPMI said the Nigerian Army’s remarkable success in anti-terrorism and anti-banditry operations across the country can be felt by all.
In a statement by GPMI President General, Dr. Mike Uyi, Gen. Farouk’s steadfastness and dedication has rubbed on his gallant troops as evident in the troop outings.

He said armed bandits, kidnappers and other sundry criminals are now finding it difficult to operate in the country due to the onslaught of the troops.

According to him, it is an indication that the war against terrorism would indeed come to an end soon.“This is indeed commendable and as such the GPMI wishes to state that the Nigerian troops have indeed proved that where there is a will there is always a way because, despite the various conspiracies against Nigeria in the war against terrorism, the Nigerian troops have always given the terrorists fatal and decisive blows in the war front”.

According to Uyi, “it was with the appointment of Farouk as the Chief of Army Staff, that we started noticing some changes in both the tactics by the military and the reaction of the insurgents”.

“Whereas in the past, the insurgents would hold entire communities hostage and wait to engage in a military gun battle, we started seeing the insurgents fleeing at the sight of anything that had the appearance of troops”.

Uyi also called on the Federal Government to initiate the process of recognizing well-deserving members of the armed forces in the fight against insurgency.

GPMI said it arrived at this conclusion after extensive consultation with stakeholders in the critical security sector.
According to the group, this singular act would serve as a morale booster to all the armed forces who are displaying “patriotism, commitment and dedication to the cause of our fatherland”.
