Killing of Dr Akunyili, one other: Agulu community declares 3 days mourning

Following the killing of Dr Chike Akunyili and Mr Azubuike by the unknown gunmen on Tuesday, Agulu community in Aniocha local government area of Anambra State on Wednesday declared three days mourning.

The President General (PG) Carataker Committee of the community, Sir Onyebuchi Okpala made this known to journalists.

The Agulu PG said that Mr Azubuike Anikwata from ifiteani Village Agulu who came back from Turkey was building an industry in the community before he met his untimely death in the hands of the unknown gunmen who struck at Madonna area of the town.

He pointed out that another attack at Nkpor Junction claimed the life of Dr Chike Akunyili husband to former Director General of NAFDAC late Prof Dora Nkem Akunyili.

“On this note we Ndi Agulu in general comenced three days mourning from today 29 wed- 1st Oct 2021. Meanwhile, all political activities in the community is hereby suspended during the mourning period.” Sir Okpala declared.

The PG of Agulu community however called on the Anambra State government to beef up security in the state and quickly visit the families of the deceased and pay condolences.
It would be recalled that seven persons allegedly lost their lives at Nkpor during a deadly attack by the dreaded unknown gunmen on Tuesday.
