As political activities in Imo state continue to rise in crescendo, preparations for the November 11th Governorship election have revved up as a group known as “Imo Progressives Movement” unanimously adopted Governor Hope Uzodimma as its sole choice for the election.

The National facilitator/convener of the body, Hon. Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu, who announced the adoption at the maiden press briefing of the organization in Owerri said the measure which is in line with the State’s Charter of Equity” formulated by the elders in the state in respect of the governorship was in appreciation of the governor’s outstanding achievements in the past three and half years.

Dibiagwu who represents the Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta/Oru West Federal Constituency in the Green Chamber, Abuja marshaled out reasons to buttress the adoption of the governor for a second tenure to include: reduction of infant and maternity rates through sound health policies, revamping and equipping of the state owned University with Modern Pedagogical and medical tools, massive roads revolution, sound and result-oriented agricultural policy.

According to him, “all over the world, citizens who are committed to the Socio-political advancement of the society have always risen to the occasion and forged a common front in pursuit of the lofty agenda of building a society that works for all” stressing that this is the vision behind the formation of the Movement (IPM).

The lawmaker while urging indigenes and lovers of the State to join the movement and participate in ensuring that good governance is consolidated in the state said that various structures of the movement in the polling units, communities, wards, local government areas, federal constituencies and senatorial districts were already taking shape ahead of the state-wide inauguration of the body.
