The Non Governmental Orgnisation (NGO) constituency of the  Partnership for Maternal Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH) has announced new leadership.

Among the new Board members is a Nigerian, Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba.

The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health is a multi-constituency partnership hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO).

PMNCH seeks to achieve universal access to comprehensive, high-quality reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health care.

Dr. Magashi is the Coordinator, Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) with its headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria.

AHBN is well known for its consistent advocacy for transparency and accountability in the health sector.

AHBN was among the key NGOs that recently partnered with the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19 to host the well celebrated National COVID-19 Summit which took place in December 2021.

The  2-day National COVID-19 Summit which was held in Abuja, was with the theme: Pushing through the Last Mile to End the Pandemic and Build Back Better. The aim of the Summit was to ensure that Nigeria bounced back from the COVID-19 pandemic stronger.
The NGO constituency of the PMNCH is the largest of its 10 constituencies, representing 700+ member organizations.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the PMNCH said: “From 1 January 2022 until December 2024, the constituency will be chaired by María Antonieta Alcalde Castro, Director of Ipas Central America and Mexico, who will also represent the NGO constituency in the PMNCH Executive Committee and Board.

“She will be joined on the Board by fellow NGO rep Aminu Magashi Garba, Founder and Coordinator of Africa Health Budget Network, and supported in her constituency leadership role by under-30 Vice Chair Erika Dupuis, Country Coordinator of IYAFP Canada, as well as by NGO constituency Secretary Blessina Kumar, CEO of the Global Coalition of TB Activists.”
