Gen. Danjuma expresses worry over state of the nation, says peace must be established

Former Defence Minister (rtd) Lt-Gen. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, has expressed worry over the current state of the nation and called for urgent peace in the land.

Gen. Danjuma made the call at the commissioning of his new eye care hospital named after his wife ‘Daisy Danjuma’ in his country home Takum, said there is need for urgent peace in Nigeria to enhance development.

He said for the country to advance in technology like other countries in the world, peace and unity must be ensured so that young Nigerians should be discouraged from moving outside the country to foreign lands.

According to him, peace remains the solution for all development and therefore calls for a change of approach to enable the country to regain its lost glory in the comity of nations.

According to him, the essence of the hospital was to give back to the society especially to the down trodden considering the state of poor health facilities across board.

In his address while commissioning the ultra-modern hospital, the state Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, noted with satisfaction that the new hospital will provide succor and in the state.

He said, the founder of the hospital has not only demonstrated unwavering commitment, love and passion to the people of the state but has equipped the hospital with state–of-arts- facilities that will stand the taste of time.

In their goodwill messages representative of the National Eye Health Program of the Federal Ministry of Health; the Country Director, Development Africa, Joshua Kempeneer, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Mr. Hannatu Gentles and Chairman, Takum LGA, Hon. John Ali, among other dignitaries, eulogied the vision of Gen. Danjuma for making the project a reality and pledges to support the hospital at all times.
