Nigeria is to face its old round leather rival, Tunisia, in the second round of the on-going African Cup of Nations (AFCON), taking place in Cameroon.
CAF also made public round of 16 fixtures, which was unveiled on Thursday.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles, the only team that posted an unbeaten victory in the qualifiers, beating three of their opponents in the group to earn the maximum nine points, would face the Carthage Eagles, an old foe, which slightly qualified from their zone.
Tunisia, lost two of their three matches, with the latest being a 1-0 loss to the Gambia, but still qualified as one of four best third-placed teams in the group stage, while Nigeria topped Group-D after winning all three of its group stage matches.
The tie against Tunisia is expected to be a repeat of the bronze medal match at AFCON 2019 in Egypt where Odion Ighalo’s goal confirmed Eagles’ third place.
The round of 16 ties will commence on Sunday, January 23, with Nigeria’s tie against Tunisia one of two matches for the day.
