Green House Emission: FG to introduce Eco friendly buses

The Federal Government in its bid to curtail greenhouse gasses is considering patronizing Eco Green Buses which have been proven to have 95 percent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions.


The Minister of State for Transportation, Sen. Gbemisola Ruqayyah Saraki made this known today when the Executive Officer of Eco 360 Group, Johann Reiger presented an array of Eco friendly buses to her in Abuja.


A statement by the Director of Press and Publicity in the Ministry, Eric Ojiekwe reported the Minister as saying that the Federal Government will soon role out a long term durable solution to best tackle road transportation challenges in Nigeria since over 90% of the citizenry travel by road, saying that a high performance vehicle which can suit the Nigerian road system, would be welcomed.


Speaking earlier, the Group Executive Officer, Johann Reiger, stated that the Eco Green Bus is of the highest safety standards with real time feedback of driver’s behavior via telematics.


Speaking further, he said that 70% of its buses can be assembled locally with extensive transfer of technological know-how throughout the value chain, in addition to provision of two years maintenance parts.


According to Reiger,  vehicles currently in use in Nigeria are of CNG Euro II (Compressed Natural Gas) whereas Eco Green Buses are of CNG Euro IV-V making them more fuel efficient and cost effective.


The Minister of State was accompanied by the Director, Road Transport and Mass Transit, Federal Ministry of Transportation, Uju-Ejembi Mary, Group CEO, Emerging Africa Capital, Mrs. Toyin Sanni and other management staff of the Ministry.
