It was a night to remember, a night when fire came down in music form, the atmosphere was charged beyond measure and young men and women who cherish beautiful music, innovation, fashion and panache, gathered on the night of Thursday, February 24, 2022, at the Kings Plaza on Adeniran Ogunsanya, Surulere, Lagos, for the Listening Party/Album launch from the label of NAZZ Music Entertainment World.

It was the album launch of TIRED OF WAITING by Mr Chuks a Hip-up artist under the label of NAZZ Music.

Call it gathering of the crème de la crème in entertainment industry, you might not be wrong. Nollywood maestros like Paul Obazele, Zeb Ejiro, Fred Amata, Mike Nliam, Ndomix, Zulu Okafor, were physically present even as MC Godwin and his colleagues anchored the event. King Turner and King Desh were among upcoming artists that took to the stage before Mr Chuks mounted the stage.

Once he mounted the elevated platform, Chekwube Elvis Chukwukere, the Chuks, the young man whose music has attracted local and international accolade electrified with his tracks including ‘Jaye’, ‘Maria’, ‘Sweet Like’, ‘Addicted,’ among other sensational tracks.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Chuks said “My songs are very purified, they are like stories, I just imagine one or two things then I write them down.” He also said that the entertainment industry for an upcoming person is very tough, adding that hard work pays. “What I want to say is once you are hardworking and you believe in yourself, the sky is your limit.”

On challenges he has encountered he said “There are challenges especially in the promotion, you may have a beautiful song but you may not have money to promote it, or to get people to like your music, it is very hard to get people to like it, but once you start getting it you are good to go.” indeed his delivery was a masterstroke, he killed it, and the music was world class. He said.

While promising his fans ‘fire’ on the stage Mr Chuks spoke on his vision to get his own music label in the next ten years, he said “You can’t become a master if you don’t serve a master. So I am grateful to NAZZ Music for their work and I am grateful to God almighty as well, I believe that with them, with the few years I am going to be with them, I want to gather enough knowledge, to build my own label.”

Indeed his delivery on the stage was a masterstroke, he killed it, and the music was world class.

Kelech Torti, whose state name is The Great Oxygen, who also work with Bond FM 92.9, is the label manager of the NAZZ Music Entertainment World, the label owners of the music.

On his assessment of Mr. Chuks he said, “He is very talented, we have been having problem, we want to listen to five songs, but we have been having problem with label, I chose the one they called Jaye, some people say it is addicted, some say Maria, some Streetlife, there is confusion; he is good. Chuks is a graduate of computer Engineering, he is good.”

Speaking on how best to fight piracy in Nigeria and indeed Africa he said “The only way to fight piracy is for you to do your things well, be trendy, what I mean by being trendy is know the things that are happening. Today after this listening party we are not going to release the album at Alaba. We are sending it to Spotify, Audio Map, all the international stores, Alaba people can’t go there, so the little they would do, you can’t rule out piracy in Africa, it is not possible, because people are hungry, they need to do something to eat. But what we are praying is let our artist be internationally known, the pirates can do the little they can afford to do. You can’t stop it, in due time as we bring in, align and associate with international artists and marketers, you see that piracy will die.”

Osita Iguegbe, the CEO of the Label, NAZZ Music Entertainment World speaking about Mr Chuks said “I picked him up because I saw the potential in him. I met him in the street where he sang, I saw that he will be a great superstar in the future, that was why I picked him and I am ready to go with him.” He added “My plan for him is to make him big like other big artists in Nigeria.”

Nelson Chukwukere, the elder brother of the celebrant was present and said “I am very very happy about what is happening today, he started little but today look at where he is today, I am happy. We came from a Christian home, my mum is IFAC, but everybody wondered why he should go into secular music rather than becoming a Reverend, and the young man himself knew what he wanted. He chose his own career by himself just like the way people do it overseas. That is it.”
