Amidst tears, excitement and out pouring of emotions, Hon. (Barr.) Chijioke Edeoga resigned from the Enugu State Executive Council, budding farewell to the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources where he served last.
In his farewell remarks to the staff of the ministry, he expressed his immense gratitude to God for the time and period he superintendent over the affairs of the ministry as a Commissioner from 2019 to the date of his resignation.
Edeoga thanked the management and staff of the ministry for their undiluted support and cooperation while he worked with them.
Hon. Edeoga also thanked the Governor of Enugu State, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for finding him worthy to server under his administration as Commissioner from 2015 till today (Wednesday).
He told the staff of the ministry and the teeming crowd who witnessed the event that he has voluntarily tendered his resignation in order to pursue his political aspiration and also to align himself to the provisions of the newly amended Electoral Act, 2022.
He stated: “Regarding the 2023 election, the justice of the matter is on our side. The voices of the majority of the people are properly aligned. Victory by God’s grace is assured”.
Responding, the Permanent Secretary at the ministry, Barr. (Mrs.) Chinwe Amadi, expressed her profound gratitude to God for bringing Hon. Edeoga to the ministry.
She described Edeoga as “a man of peace, loving and caring leader who understands the feelings of those under him; and can make people around him laugh even when they are not in the best of moods”.
She stated that Hon. Edeoga “posses uncommon leadership qualities which distinguished him from other leaders” she had worked with over time.
Mrs Amadi assured the out-going Commissioner that they will continue to pray for him, wishing him well in his future endeavours.
Also speaking, the Director of Administration, Mr. Mathew Abiah, described Edeoga as “a humble-servant leader, meek, mien and kind-hearted leader who believes in fair-hearing and justice”.
He asserted that Hon. Edeoga never adjudged anyone right or wrong without hearing from both sides.
He prayed to God Almighty to see Hon. Edeoga through in his aspirations.
Also, Mr. Nnamdi Arum from the Department of Climate Change, eulogized the out-going Commissioner for his “uprightness, dedication to duties and knacks for excellence”.
Equally, the Director of Environmental Health, Mrs. Beatrice Asogwa, who could not hold her emotions, described Hon. Edeoga as “a father, brother, God-fearing leader and a humanitarian who carries the burdens of others”.
Mrs Asogwa emotionally stated that she has never meet a leader like Hon. Edeoga and urged him to continue with his open door policy.
