Classmates celebrate Fr Agwulonu, Nigeria’s 1st Vice Chancellor in DRC Congo


As part of this year’s Easter celebrations, old boys from the 1991 set of the prestigious St Peter Claver Seminary, Okpala, Imo State rolled out the drums in felicitation with one of their own, Rev Fr Prof Fidelis Agwulonu for attaining a special height in his career by his recent appointment as the Vice Chancellor of Universite` Notre Dame De Tangayika, Uvira DRC. The group, who call themselves ‘Umunnem na Kristi’, find this elevation from amongst them as a huge privilege, worthy of celebration and thanksgiving to God.


In the words of the National President of the group Chief (Barr.) Kingsclovis Okereke, ” At this auspicious season in which we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus, we rejoice and also specially celebrate one of our own, Revd Prof Fidelis Agwulonu, for being a good ambassador of the group and making our Alma Mater proud by attaining the prestigious position of a Vice Chancellor of a University in a foreign land and do not take it for granted.

Though, we have a huge collection of men that have excelled in their various careers of choice, but becoming Vice Chancellor of a renowned university calls for celebrations. For this reason, so many members of the group travelled from far and near to join in the celebration of our dear brother, classmate and friend.

By this token, we are also putting the whole of Imo state and Nigeria on notice that we have abundance of talents and men of character, competence, compassion, conscience and capability from where Fr Fide is coming from. Ours, is a unique set from a unique institution and we are have to be offloading gradually in service of our nation and world” concludes an excited president of the set.


It will be recalled that Revd Fr Prof Fidelis Ikeokwuadighim Agwulonu, a native of Mbutu, Aboh Mbaise LGA in Imo State, an accomplished academic, author and Reverend Father in the Catholic Church, was recently appointed as the Vice Chancellor, Universite’ Notre Dame De Tanganyika Uvira, Republique Du Congo, amongst several other academic heights in Universities in America and beyond
