2023 presidency: VP Osinbajo, Tunde Bakare, Nnamani Pick APC forms

…As Ex Ogun Gov, Amosun, declares in Abuja

The number presidential aspirants on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has continued to swell as Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, General Overseer of Lagos based Citadel Global Community Church (formerly Later Rain Church), Pastor Tunde Bakare, and former President of the Nigerian senate, Ken Nnamani have [paid the compulsory N100m as demanded by the party to formally launch them selves into the race for the nation’s plum job

While a group of supporters led by Kano senator, Kabiru Gaya, picked the form for the vice president, Bakare and Nnamani came in person to purchase their forms at the International Conference Center (ICC) Abuja, venue of the sales

Speaking after the purchase, senator Gaya, who led a team of Osinbajo supporters to venue insisted that power must shift to the South in 2023, stressing that the North has had its own turn under President Muhammadu Buhari

“I’ve been in politics for many years and I understand at certain level how politics should be played. I believe it is a game of give and take. We have served for the president in this country for eight years under the leadership of president Muhammadu Buhari, so the presidency should go to the South and that is why we said the best person to handle this matter is somebody who has been in the system, if he’s sworn-in today at the Eagles square, by tomorrow morning he can pick up because he’s already in the system.

“ I was once a governor, I know what it takes when you are sworn-in it takes time for you to learn and move forward. But when you are in the system, you don’t have that problem, it’s going to improve because they have now drawn a plan and which you could have peace, stability and better economy and he’s going to improve on that new plan we have to develop the economy to a better and for Nigerians to be better.

On the rising number of aspirants for the position, Gaya stated, “Well democracy is a game of number, every aspirant that is contesting is qualified, nobody is not qualified to contest election but we are saying that we should look along the line and see who’s the best material and I’m sure if we put them together, all of them together, they will pick Osinbajo as their candidate.

Also reacting a question on what he intends to bring to the table that will change the Nigerian narrative Pastor Tunde Bakare stated, “I trust God helping us with men of good will, East, West, North and South from the country across party lines, male and female who will rise up and rebuild our nation in such a way that the devastation we are experiencing we would see it again no more.

“Our program is very simple: peace, prosperity and progress and possibilities. Upon those four pillars, Nigeria will be rebuilt and the hope of many citizens will be rekindled. We are all going to join hands to make it happen. No other nation will fix our nation, it will take Nigerians from all works of life, within and without and those in the diaspora to join hands together to build our nation.

The clergy went furtherthe explain that “God rules in the affairs of men and he gives it to whoever he wills. A southerner is a Nigerian, a northerner is a Nigerian.

“We trust God that the best, the fittest and the most competent will emerge and the one who truly loves our people especially the poor will rise to fix our nation. Many people run in a race but only one person will wear the crown. Their is only one seat whoever wins the rest of us most rise to support him to rebuild Nigeria, East, West, North or South, Nigeria is our country

It was gathered that the pastor would officially declare his presidential ambition on Monday, May 9, 2022, at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Central Business District in Abuja, according to a statement,

Tunde Bakare was a former Vice-Presidential candidate to Muhammadu Buhari during the 2011 elections under the Congress for Progressive Change and he is also the Convener of the Save Nigeria Group.

“This is to honour a historic call and duty to lead the next phase of our collective journey to national glory. It is a duty to reenergise our faith in the future of this country even in the face of the threats to our national sovereignty by insurgents and terrorists; a duty to renew hope in our collective destiny even in the light of some doubts expressed and mobilised in some quaters about our shared fate.”
