President Mohammadu Buhari has told those agitating for the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, that only the court of competent jurisdiction will decide on the release of Kanu.
He stated this in Abakaliki during a two-day working visit to Ebonyi State to commission projects executed by Governor David Umahi where he met with leaders of the South-East who among other things demanded for the release of Kanu.
President Buhari in his reaction, said the issue of Nnamdi Kanu will be decided by the court even as be bemoaned the worsening insecurity facing the zone.
He reiterated that anyone seen carrying Ak-47 apart from security agents must be treated as criminal and vowed that terrorism and banditry must be flushed out for peace to reign.
He condemned recent killing of couple soldiers describing it as wickedness and barbaric.
Adding, “I must register my deep concern as regards to the detoriating state of security affairs in south east. In the last 48 hours, I was informed of the latest brutal assault of gang of terrorists who prey on innocent and hardworking citizens”, he said.
