By Agabus Pwanagba

A chieftain of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang has challenged party stakeholders and citizens of the state to ensure that the task of reclaiming power from the ruling APC at both the state and the national levels is done collectively come 2023.

He also said in Plateau, if given the mandate to run for the governorship in 2023, he will lead “the onslaught against the APC, because of the damage they have done to Plateau and Nigeria”.

Mutfwang disclosed this when he visited the party leadership in the state and stakeholders at the State Secretariat in Jos, the State Capital.

He said, “We are committed to ensuring that the lost glory of Plateau is restored.

According to him, “I have come here to formally intimate you of why I’m in this contest.

“By the grace of God, I’m burdened with the burden of Plateau; because I have been living in pains in the last seven years, because of the level which Plateau has fallen from glory.

“Plateau that was a land well respected among other States in Nigeria; today it is a land that, when is mentioned, people shake their heads”, he decried.

“I have come to announce to you Sir, that given the mandate to lead the PDP into the 2023 elections, that the tears of Plateau people would be wiped away.

“I have come to ask for your mandate and your support to lead the onslaught against the APC, because of the damage they have done to Plateau and Nigeria.

“Those of you who are students of history, apart from the presidential primary election in 2014, that produce Buhari, there has been nothing democratic APC has done; I stand to be corrected”, he explained.

“Therefore, for everybody that loves Nigeria, Plateau and democracy; the task of chasing APC out of government, is a task that must be done.

“But in order to do that, we must be united and I know that it is difficult to be united without the leader that has become a rallying point.

“I have come to offer myself as a leader that will not only unite the PDP, but the entire people of Plateau State”, Mutfwang assured.

“I’m desirous to see every part of Plateau in peace”, he reiterated.

Mutfwang further stated that, “I’m here to inform you that if you give me the mandate by the grace of God, I will provide leadership; leadership that will reclaim all boundaries of Plateau, and make sure that our people live in peace.

“So that all the economic potentials that are embedded in this state would be unleashed”, he admonished.

According to him, “Plateau ought not to be among the poor States, we are a people endowed by God;with natural resources, clement weather, we are a hardworking people, productive,; we ought not to be among the poor.

“But I realise for progress there must be leadership.

“God’s willing we will team up together and not only restore the future of Plateau, but even our will become something to recond with among the committee of States in Nigeria.

The aspirant further stated that he was aware that many people are aspiring for the same position, but he is optimistic that the party leadership in the state will provide a level playing field for all, “once a level playing ground is provided, then the will of God and that of the people will triumph”, he stressed.

Responding, chairman of the PDP in the state, Hon. Chris Hassan, assured the aspirant that the party will provide a level playing ground for all those aspiring.

“As a party, we want the people to decide those who will lead them, so we will not compromise that; everyone would be given a level playing field”, he assured.

Chris wished the aspirant success as he continue to canvase for support.
