Kano: APC, NNPP battle over Shekarau, as Ganduje’s CoS resigns, joins Kwakwanso

Former Governor of Kano state, Ibrahim Shekarau, and his APC faction may have become the beautiful bride of Kano politics as he is currently in considered as the bridge between a possible victory for Governor Abdulahi Umar Ganduje and his APC in the 2023 general elections and former Governor Ibrahim Kwankwaso in his move to make the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) a stronghold name in the state

It was gathered at the weekend that following the Supreme Court judgment that handed Governor Ganduje the full structure of Kano APC as against Shekarau, the former governor has has nursed the ambition of pitching his tent with another political party, ahead of of the 2023 election, and his recent reported meeting with Kwankwanso may have left the camp of Governor Ganduje very jittery, hence he initiated moves same time to pacify the aggrieved Shekarau

This is even as the Governor has continued to lose his aides to the NNPP, with his Chief of Staff, Ali Buka makoda, been the latest to resign his appointment and team up with Kwankwaso for the fight in 2023

The legion of resignations is not unconnected with Governor Ganduje’s choice of his Deputy, Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, as his preferred successor

Upon his acceptance of the resignation of the Chief of Staff Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje directed the State’s Head of Civil Service, Usman Bala to oversee the Office of the Chief of Staff to the Governor with immediate effect.

However, Ganduje in a statement issued by the commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, indicated that the supervision would be pending the appointment of a substantive Chief of Staff.

The Governor, the statement added, expressed the hope that there would be effective supervision and coordination by the Head of Service, having served in the office before.

Usman Bala was the State Chief of Staff during the first tenure of Governor Ganduje, but was sacked and appointed a Permanent Secretary.
