From Cyriacus Nnaji, Lagos
Adem Commercial Complex business leaders have paid a two-pronged courtesy visit to the Iyaloja General of Nigeria, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo.
The market leaders who met the market leader at her Alausa, Ikeja office at the weekend, were there to felicitate with her on her birthday and also pledge support for her father’s presidential ambition.
Speaking to the media, Chairman of the Commercial Complex and Chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief Modestus Umenzekwe (Onwa Achina) said “The visit served two purposes; one was to identify with Bola Ahmed Tinubu Project, the APC Project and also to felicitate with the Iyaloja Lagos on her birthday.
As old member, we started from Alliance for Democracy (AD), Action Congress (AC), from there to Action Congress of Nigeria (CAN) up to All Progressives Congress (APC). We have never for one day joined any other political party in this line up. Where we are doing business, we started it towards the end of Tinubu’s Administration, then Fashola took it over and gave us approval and helped us to grow the business to become a leading building market in Nigeria, trading in ceramics and other things. From there we kept on moving and growing, Akinwumi Ambode came in and nurtured us, then Sanwo-Olu came in, playing a fatherly role in making sure that the market is growing.”
He added that the market is made up of the three major tribes in Nigeria “The market is made up of three tribes, Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo, but the Igbos are in the majority. So we cannot at this point in time say that we don’t know that APC is doing something for which there is evidence, the APC has developed the six geopolitical zones infrastructurally without tribal considerations. So we are here to identify with our national leader having won handsomely at the presidential primary. We have to key into the project to make sure he comes on board as the president in May 2023,” Umenzekwe disclosed.
He also stated that the visit was to congratulate and felicitate with Tinubu Ojo on her birthday. “We are also here to celebrate with you on your birthday. We can see your birthday almost coincided with that of the Honourable minister of Works and Housing, so it calls for celebration for APC faithful in Lagos and Nigeria, because from presidential primary election victory to Fashola’s birthday and then to Iyaloja’s birthday, so these things are evidence that good thing is awaiting APC.”
The visit was made up of an abridged trade union delegation of the trading community. “If we should come here en mass, it would be a crowd. This is also to give a prior information that we are mobilizing and very soon by the time our Principal returns from France all of us, over five thousand people in our domain will have a meeting with him and discuss on how to go on this project and achieve victory, that is why we are here,” he stated.
In her reply, the Iyaloja said she was very happy. She said Nigeria is one, the unity of this country is important to everybody including her father and that is the reason he is fighting tooth and nail to make sure that he comes in to unify the country further, to tackle the insecurity in the land, then to bring in the wealth of experience he used in Lagos to develop Nigeria because Lagos is a mini Nigeria, adding that any person that handled Lagos and eventually took over the southwest is already a president in the making.
She promised that his father will run an all-inclusive government if elected “I am sure once my father comes on board everybody will be happier, everybody will be carried along in an all-inclusive government without tribal sentiment and religious sentiment. What my father did in Lagos he is going to replicate it in the six geopolitical zones of this country. There will be no problem.”
She also assured that all the markets in Lagos have free playing ground, and there is no room for molestation or harassment of any kind, adding that Lagos State is Centre of Excellence and it is home to all genuine people as no government condoles criminality of any kind be it kidnapping, arson and all forms of anti-social activities.
