Police Intercept Car Loaded With 135 Parcels Of Marijuana Worth Over N1. 3 Million

Police men on surveillance patrol in Kano have intercepted a Golf Saloon car fully loaded with 135 parcels of dry leafs suspected to be Marijuana.

According to the Kano state Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the illicit drugs were intercepted at the border between Katsina and Kano state.

He said the driver of the vehicle abandoned the vehicle and the illicit items and escaped into the bush the moment he sighted police officers.

The Police Image-maker further stated that: “In line with the directives of the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Police Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi, and by extension the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman, psc(+), NPM, fdc on round the clock visibility patrol, on June 24, 2022, team of Policemen led by CSP Aminu S. Wurno, Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Rogo Division, while on intelligence-led surveillance patrol at Damagiri Village, Rogo LGA, Kano State, along Katsina – Kano Boarder intercepted an Ash Colour Golf III Saloon Motor Vehicle, from Katsina heading to Kano.

” On sighting the presence of the Police, the driver of the Motor Vehicle zoomed off. On sustained follow-up, the driver abandoned the Motor Vehicle and escaped.

“On spot search, 135 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp valued at N1,350,000:00 were recovered in the Vehicle. An investigation conducted revealed that the driver deals in buying and selling Indian Hemp and he left his residence for an unknown destination.

“The Commissioner of Police directed that case had been transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, Narcotics Section for discreet investigation. He strongly warns that criminals will have no hiding place in Kano State.

“They are advised to either repent or leave the State completely. He urged residents to continue to pray for the State, the Nation, and report incidences to the nearest Police Station, and not take laws into their hands. Rigorous patrol, raids of criminal hideouts, and black spots will continue throughout the State, as the Command will sustain the ongoing Community Policing engagements that are yielding positive results.
