From Maurice Okafor, Enugu

The  Joint Health Sector Union(JOHESU),Federal Neuro Psychiatric hospital Enugu chapter ,yesterday passed a vote of confidence on the management of the institution led by  the Chief Medical Director, Professor Monday Igwe, stating the hospital has witnessed improved workers welfare and infrastructural development in the past three years of Prof. Igwe’s administration devoid of rancour.

They recalled that prior to Professor Igwe’s appointment as the Chief Medical Director, the  institution,  incessant strike actions as a result of lack of trust on the previous management by the workers was the bane of the hospital. But Prof.Igwe’s administration  in the past three years restored industrial harmony in the hospital and  has been facilitating  further  infrastructural development of the hospital.

The  Chairman,JOHESU,Federal Neuro Psychiatric Chapter  Enugu, Comrade Friday Oduburu stated,

“We want to state categorically that the Federal Neuro-Pyschiatric Hospital, Enugu, South East Nigeria has made tremendous progress under the present admiration of Professor Monday Igwe as the Medical Director and Chief Executive.  Within the first three years of his administration, the fortune of the hospital has been turned around.

“The once elusive cordial working environment in the hospital has been restored under Professor Igwe’s administration.  Indeed, we enjoy peace in the hospital as God answered our prayers by giving us the present adminstration of Professor Monday Igwe who has worked very hard to reposition the hospital on the path of peace and progress,” Oduburu said.

“It is a statement of fact that years ago, we suffered crisis which set the only the only Federal Neuro-Pyschiatric Hospital in the South East backward but God answered our prayers by enthroning the peace loving administration in the hospital,” he said.

Oduburu noted that since Igwe came their welfare has been adequately taken care of as salaries are coming regularly, promotion and staff training are equally seen as a priority.

The labour leader said that under Igwe the hospital has been experiencing steady power supply in addition to the refurbishing of the standby generators to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

Because of the achievements recorded and many more therefore, “JOHESU, hereby call on the President Federal Government of Nigeria, Mohammad Buhari, the Federal Ministry of Health and the entire general public to disregard the negative propaganda being sponsored by some unknown persons to discredit the present administration in the hospital.”

On the negative propaganda , Oduburu said there was no iota of truth in the allegation that security agents are looking for Professor Igwe to arrest him.
