Support for the Enugu state PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 governorship election has continued to gain momentum from different sectors and divide in the state, as the Pastor of Living Word Pentecostal Church,Abakpa Nike Enugu,Rev.Godwin Obasi, yesterday inaugurated a grass root movement known as ‘Eze Chinyelugo Grassroot Movement meant to ginger support for the candidate of Dr Peter Mbah across the 17 local government areas and 260 wards in Enugu state.
Briefing news men after the official inauguration which took place at Filbon Hotel, New haven, Enugu,Rev.Obasi, said it is time for Christians particularly the clerics to rise up to the challenge of electing people with fear of God into political power.
He stressed the Holy Bible teaches that “Righteousness exalts a nation and when the righteous are on the throne. the people rejoice”. He expressed optimism that there is no other time to mobilise Christians to practicalise that version of the scripture than now. When Nigeria is facing serious economic challenges. Being man of God he is setting the pace and will like other to emulate his foot steps.
His words,” The various economic and socio political challenges in our nation calls for men of God to devote time in search and support for persons who will be entrusted with political power to lead righteously because righteousness exalts the nation. When the righteous are in power the peopdevelopment ofle rejoice”.
Answering question on whether his support for Peter Mbah’s candidacy is a divine calling, Rev.Obasi said he is objective that Dr Mbah possesses the experience, exposure and connection to ginger revolution in the Industrial sector,Agricultural sector and human capital development
He stated,” I am not here to claim that I have divine calling to ginger support for Peter Mbah,my support is based on my conviction that he possesses the experience, he is exposed and will bring a revolution in our industrial,Agricultural and human capacity development. He will also sustain the existing peace in Enugu state.
Rev.Obasi said the “Eze Chinyelugo Grass Root Movement 2023” with coordinators in the 17 council areas and 260 wards in Enugu state is his mouthpiece of convincing the people to Enugu state to obtain their PVC cards and vote for Dr Peter Mbah,in the 2023;state governorship election.
