I remain APC candidate for Ebonyi South senatorial district – Agom -Eze

All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain, Ann Agom Eze has declared that she remains the authentic senatorial candidate of her party for Ebonyi South senatorial district, ahead of the 2023 elections

Agom – Eze, who has been in battle for the ticket with Governor Dave Umahi also said she has not been expelled from the party, adding that no notice of such was sent to her by the party’s state chapter.

Agom-Eze added that her life is in danger, prompting her to run out of Ebonyi State, allegef that the Governor’s henchmen are awaiting her return.

It would be recalled that a Federal High Court, in Abakaliki, had on July 22, dismissed a suit filed by Governor Umahi, asking the court to recognise him as the APC candidate for the senatorial district.

However, the court recognized Agom-Eze, who came second in the May 28 senatorial primary election for Ebonyi South, but ordered that a fresh primary election be conducted within 14 days after the withdrawal of Governor Umahi s brother, Austin, from the race which he earlier won at the primary.

The APC however conducted a fresh primary election on July 31, and Umahi was declared the winner, but was rejected by AgonEze and her camp, who insisted that the fresh primary was not necessary, since there was a second rubbers up in the first exercise.

Reacting to this on a Channels Television programme, Agom-Eze said though the matter remains in court, she is the bonafide senatorial candidate of the party.

“As far as I am concerned, I’m the candidate because the judgment of the 22nd of June proclaimed me the candidate. So, for me, I am still the candidate.”
