NSCDC parades suspected crude oil thieves, vandals in Delta

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Delta State Command, has paraded suspected oil thieves and vandals in Warri.

The recent increase in the onslaught against the oil thieves followed the marching order given to all state commandants by the Commandant General (CG), Dr Abubakar  Audi Ahmed, to crush and decimate all oil thieves and vandals in their respective states without mercy.

A statement by the Delta State Command Spokesman, DSC Emeka Peters Okwechime, disclosed that following the marching order, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Akinsanya Iskilu Abiodun,  launched a Special Tactical Team code named “Operation Show No Mercy to vandals.”

According to the statement, barely 24hours into the operation, the NSCDC officers arrested some suspected crude oil thieves and vandals along the Warri Sapele Road.

Others arrested in the operation include those  illegally dealing in petroleum products suspected to be Dual Purpose Kerosine (DPK) and Automated Gasoline Oil AGO.

 The suspects, according to the statement include Salisu Ibrahim, 22 years; Idris Ilia, 23 years and Usman Adam, 32 years.

“The Team also busted and sealed up an illegal dump site close to Niger Cat in Uvwie LGA of Delta State leading to the arrest of 2 suspects -Aminu Garuba, 32 years and Usman Tasiu 19 years.

“On the Warri Sapele highway, the Team also swop on black marketers illegally dealing in petroleum products suspected to be Automated Gasoline Oil (AGO), several drums of illegally refined AGO were destroyed and two suspects were arrested.

“The sting operations and raiding continues until the State is sanitise of crude oil thieves and pipeline vandals,” the statement explained.

Other suspects paraded by the NSCDC Spokesman, include a 40 years-old Mrs Blessing Ojewale, who was engaged in illegal dealing in petroleum product suspected to be Dual Purpose Kerosine (DPK) concealed in about 30 sacks estimated to be about 1000 litres of DPK loaded in a Toyota Sienna Bus with registration number LSR 832 CZ used in conveying the product.

“Similarly,  one Mr Idogor Sunday was also arrested with about 27 numbers of 25 liters Jerry cans of petroleum product suspected to be Dual Purpose Kerosene DPK loaded in a Mitsubishi Space Runner with Registration Number CL 374 ABC.
