Kano State Governor, Dr. Abudllahi Umar Ganduje has admonished Nigerians to remain strong in peace and unity even in the face of daunting challenges facing the nation after 62 years of independence.
Ganduje, who spoke on Saturday at Sani Abacha stadium during the independence anniversary celebration took stock of the country’s progress and development, and insisted that it is important for Nigerians to show patriotism and embrace issues that galvanize peace, unity and development of the country.
According to him, with the disposition of the spirit, character of unity and peace among all Nigerians irrespective of ethnic cum religious background, the country will keep climbing to the peak of greatness.
The Governor stated that, “in this trying and challenging times, we must combine our strength and be united and focused to make our nation stronger.
“We all need one another to survive as no part of Nigeria can do it all alone and still have or command the kind of influence that Nigeria enjoys in the comity of nations.”
Ganduje gave glory to God for keeping Nigeria as one indivisible nation, irrespective of mounting challenges facing the nation.
He urged Nigerians never to betray the sacrifice and struggles of the founding fathers and see themselves as brothers and sisters while promoting issues that will keep the country together and ensure even development across the country.
Ganduje took cognizance of insecurity in the country and urged Nigerians never to lose hope as the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is doing everything possible to summount it.
He also recounted recent successes recorded by security agencies and commended their efforts in the fight against insurgency and banditry.
He further pleaded with Nigerians to encourage security agencies by divulging useful information that will always help them clamp down on enemies of the country.
Ganduje also used the occasion to review the modest achievements by his administration so far and promised to ensure that Kano people enjoy good governance and democratic dividends.
He said his government is determined to complete all major projects initiated by it, including the Cancer Hospital which he promised President Muhammadu Buhari will personally commission very soon.
