Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has described the national honours award bestowed on some notable Nigerians, including Igbo sons and daughters, by President Muhammadu Buhari as well deserved.
Ohanaeze said it was delighted that notable Igbo sons and daughters made the national honours award list.
This was contained in a statement signed by Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, the National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide.
He described the honour bestowed upon Governor Ifeanyi of Enugu State, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state and his Ebonyi counterpart, David Umahi, as well as Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the DG World Trade Organization, as well deserved.
“We salute these eminent Igbo sons and daughters in a very special way of making us proud. The two South-East Governors who are beneficiaries of these awards have made their mark in governance and deserve the national honour. We are so proud of their achievements so far in office.
“On the part of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, she has made Ndigbo and indeed Nigeria proud among the comity of nations. As the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, she has not let us down.
“We are also proud of other Igbo leaders, industrialists and businessmen, Igwe Prof. Laz Ekwueme, Dr. Allen Onyema, Dr. Innocent Chukwuma, among others, for making the list,” Okwu said.
