The Federal Capital Territory Administration ( FCTA) ha called on owners of illegal mechanic workshops on transit ways corridors to vacate the areas or face the law.
The administration explained that it will soon start arresting and impounding of vehicles, while the recalcitrant technicians will face Mobile Courts.
This was even as the Director, Department of Development Control, Muktar Galadima, over the weekend said his task team has resumed Weekends operations to tackle growing illegalities and criminalities in the city.
Galadima who led the task team at the weekend to dislodge some suspected criminal elements at Jahi District forest, said his department decided to go extra miles to achieve more results in the war against criminalities and other forms of illegal activities.
He noted that all the forests harbouring unwanted elements capable of threatening security in the city will be completely cleared.
According to him, the administration decided to clear the Jahi forest because, certain people had turned the place to illegal relaxation spot that attract suspected criminal elements.
On his part, Moses Anyebe, a Supervisor in the Directorate of Road Traffic Services ( DRTS) said that five vehicles were evacuated from illegal Mechanic Worshops operating their.
Anyebe noted that, ” we have evacuated 5 vehicles from this place. We will make the technicians and owners of the vehicles sign an undertaking not to come here again. And we will also send them to Mobile Court”.
