The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has said all hotels in the territory without proper registration will be forced to register or seal in the next one week.
Briefing Journalists in Abuja on Thursday, the Coordinator, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), Umar said that the administration would not allowed faceless individuals to be operating hospitality industry in the nation’s capital, without certification from the government.
He said it has become necessary for the FCT Administration to close all the loop holes in order to curb security challenges.
Shuaibu disclosed that during one of the strategic meetings, a focal area identified was the hospitality industry, which he said property owners operate hotels without following the appropriate procedure of acquiring all necessary approvals from the relevant agencies of the FCT Administration.
“In that meeting, we discovered that many of the owners of the hospitality industry operating in the FCT are not known to the government. This is not proper because no organization can operate in a place without getting approval from the government”
The coordinator also said the council will not accept random persons altered their land use from the initial approved purpose especially hospitality.
He explained that many criminal elements, disguise themselves and check into some of the hospitality services as guest and hideouts before and after carrying out their evil acts.
According to him, all hospitality and tourism establishment such as hotels, guest Inn, guest houses, bed and breakfast must be registered and licensed with the Social Development Secretariat.
“Every hospitality operator must profile all guest and visitors with ‘verifymynin’ app “.
