DSS investigates personnel for unprofessional conduct at MMIA

Chuks Oyema-Aziken

The Department of State Services (DSS) says it will investigate allegation by one Pelumi Olajengbesi that the Service’s personnel at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, engage in unprofessional conduct of sorts.

Pelumi had gone on social media to say that DSS operatives at the Lagos airport had resorted to begging, delaying passengers and seeking bribery from international passengers, who use the airport.

In his allegation trending on the social media, Olajengbesi said “it is actually embarrassing to the entire nation for DSS operatives vetting people coming into the country at the Lagos airport begging for money…. This is a wake up call for the DG DSS…”.

Dr. Peter Afunanya, Public Relations Officer
Department of State Services, National Headquarters, Abuja in a reaction contained in a press release on Tuesday said the Service has launched a full investigation into the matter.

“It further invites Olajengbesi and indeed any member of the public with an evidence in this regard to come forward to the Service with such for appropriate action(s),” the DSS added.
