Eze Nwokedi set to empower 60 widows, says he was born a leader

From Cyriacus Nnaji, Lagos

With the Nigerian economy worsening by the day, feeding by the downtrodden, less-privileged and some class of widows in the society has become excruciatingly challenging.

The difficulties faced by the widows in finding food for themselves and families was part of the reasons His Royal Majesty Eze (Dr) Chika Nwokedi (Eze Okpoko 1 of Obodoukwu), the Eze Ndigbo of Ijegun & Ijedodo Kingdom, Lagos, has concluded plans to empower 60 widows within and outside his domain on Thursday, the 1st of December, 2022.

Founder and President of Igboburuotu Social Club of Nigeria, Eze Chika Nwokedi, made the disclosure during an exclusive interview in his Palace of Peace at Ijegun/Ijedodo on Thursday, November 10, 2022.

The latest phase of empowerment according to the Eze, will be the fourth since he was crowned Eze of the two communities of Ijegun and Ijedodo of Lagos.

Speaking on his N60million Empowerment Project, Eze (Dr) Nwokedi stated that he has commenced the project with the blessing of about 45 widows in the first and second phases of the empowerment project, plans vocational training for about 400 women and girls, while on Thursday, December 1st he will empower 60 widows with food items and cash gifts.

“We want to train about 400 people on how to do cake, Shawama, and many other things, and after that we will empower those that don’t have money. Next one is that I want to empower 60 widows with rice, beans, Indomie, yam, it will be on Thursday, December 1, 2022. You will see about 60 widows here. Widows from Igboburuotu are about 6,7, or 9, while the other widows, people brought their names. They are 60, they are many, that is why I am calling on my friends to support me. I will call DJ to come and play for them to dance, they will eat chicken, they will eat rice, and we will give them raw rice and cash to make them happy. This is because God is the husband of the widow, and again the king is always there, because whenever they have challenges they will go and meet the king to assist them. This one is the biggest one I am doing, after my coronation. I have blessed 15 widows, after that, 30 widows, but this one, they are 60; they are too many; I know with God all things are possible. Some of my friends are helping with cash, with food items, they trust me and they know what I can do.”

On the question of his leadership qualities despite his youthful age, he said “I was born to be a leader. When you check my month, my month is August, and you see other leaders born in August, so it is in me, I didn’t learn it. Under 25 years I became president of Ladipo Market, so it is not today, check when I was 25 years of age and I became the chairman of Ladipo as a whole, and you know in Ladipo, you don’t become chairman except you have a wife, but because of that gift from God. So it is in me, what gives the flower its perfume is inside the flower, no matter how you twist it, it is inside it, so I was born to be a leader,” Nwokedi disclosed.
