A survey carried out by the Housemates of the Season 3 of Teachers Naija Reality TV Show has revealed that only five percent of people living in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) make use of the eNaira application for transactions.
The report, titled, ‘Survey on eNaira’ assessed the level of awareness of Nigeria on eNaira and was based on a study of 60 male and female randomly selected across villages, towns and cities of Abuja
eNaira is a Central Bank of Nigeria-issued digital currency that provides a unique form of money denominated in naira.
The outcome of the survey was disclosed by the Principal of the House, Olubunmi Victoria Onore, who is housemate number 6.
She added that it included the collection of qualitative and quantitative data, using structured questionnaires standardized globally.
According to the report, out of the 60 persons sampled, 28 have heard about eNaira, while 32 haven’t heard of it.
It said from the 28 persons that have heard about the CBN-issued digital currency, only six have downloaded and installed the application on their phones.
It said, “Out of those six, only three persons (5% of 60 people sampled) make use of the application for transactions in Abuja.”
“This survey serves as an eye-opener to the staff and management of eNaira that Nigerians are always passionate, scary and can be convinced positively if the right information is passed across.
“This survey needs more sampling and it is advised that e Naira should sponsor the housemates to another major city and/or location of their choice to sample same opinion so as to ascertain reliability, objectivity and testability of the claims here,” the report read in part.
