As part of his People and Performance Management Strategy, the Managing Director of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution (PHED) Plc, Dr. Benson Uwheru has announced an upward review of salaries of employees of the company by 20 percent.
According to Dr. Uwheru, the upward review is with effect from November 1, 2022.
Recalled that upon resumption of office in July this year, following the restructuring of some DisCos by the Federal government, Dr. Uwheru in his maiden speech announced his three-point agenda as; growing revenue and improving collection efficiency, reducing losses, standardizing processes, and improving employees’ welfare.
According to Dr Uwheru, he has in his few months in office accomplished all the goals, beginning with the increased collection, reduced losses, standardized processes, and upward salary review for all employees of the company following a nod from the Board of Directors of the company.
In a virtual meeting with the Company employees, Dr. Uwheru appreciated the staff for their contribution to the successes recorded so far in the company and advised staff to be safety conscious.
He deplored the spate of accidents witnessed in the company lately, noting that safety remains a cardinal focus in the company and that the staff of the company remains its most important asset.
He lamented the recent incidents involving some staff of the company who were unfortunately on illegal and unauthorized operations.
He, therefore, reminded all staff that their safety is their primary and personal responsibility, which they should take seriously, noting that processes and procedures must be followed to avert such accidents because the consequences of undermining established processes could be dire.
Speaking further, Dr. Uwheru announced other welfare packages for employees of the company and encouraged them to always put up their best performance in line with the Company’s vision and goals.
He announced that the company has onboarded a more reliable and efficient HMO to take care of employees’ health, with a new health plan that offers better packages.
He also disclosed that there has been strategic regularization of staff appointments and an upward review of travel allowance, among others, to ensure that the welfare of the company’s employees is adequately addressed.
