Ahead of the general elections, the entire Yoruba Community In Kano State have declared their unalloyed support for the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the party’s governorship candidate, Dr. Yusuf Nasiru Gawuna and all other APC candidates vying for elective positions in the state.
They made the declaration during a Town Hall meeting held at the Conference Hall of Dallas Hotel, Weather Head, Sabon Gari, Kano.
The event was organized by Yoruba Support Group For Tinubu/Gawuna in collaboration with the Cabinet of Oba Yoruba in Kano, His Highness, Oba Murtala Alimi Obase.
The Coordinator of Yoruba Support Group For Tinubu/Gawuna, Hon. Seyi Olorunshola gave ample reasons the entire Yoruba Community In Kano, and indeed all Yoruba nation should support Tinubu’s presidency.
According to him, the idea behind the Town Hall meeting was to canvass total support for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu presidency, victory for Dr. Yusuf Nasiru Gawuna as the next Governor of Kano State and, indeed, the victory of all APC candidates in the state.
He said: “This is the entire Yoruba Community In Kano canvassing support for our own son. We are canvassing support for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“We call on all Yoruba sons and daughters to come out en masse on Saturday and cast your votes for Tinubu and other APC candidates.
“When you talk about intellect, you talk about Tinubu. He is ahead of other candidates in every scale of quality of leadership.
“The Jagaban has made governors, he has made ministers, he has made a Vice-Presisent. Through the merger he presided over, our current President, Muhammadu Buhari became the President of Nigeria, after trying for about three times.
“We should go and cast our votes. We should defend our votes. No violence, we should ensure that our votes counts on the election day.
“When the Hausas have endorsed Tinubu, the Igbos have endorsed Tinubu, why can’t we endorse our own. This is not a tribal issue, it is an issue of he who the cap fits. By the grace of God, come this Saturday, Tinubu will emerge as the next Nigeria’s president.”
The chairman of Fagge Local Government Areas, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim, described Tinubu as a detribalized Nigerian and urged the crowd in attendance to vote for him and other APC candidates.
He said the Hausas have all decided to vote en masse for Tinubu who gave his full support for President Muhammadu Buhari.
In his remarks, the lawmaker representing Fagge Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Aminu Suleiman Goro, urged the Yourbas to support Tinubu presidency.
He said Tinubu has the political stamina and leadership qualities to transform Nigeria.
“For President, Tinubu is the answer. For Governor, Gawuna is the answer. For Senate, vote A.A Zaura. For House of Representatives, vote your brother standing here, Aminu Suleiman Goro,” he added.
He listed a number of projects he carried out in his constituency and promised to do even more if voted to return to the Lower Chamber on Saturday.
Also speaking, Oba Murtala Alimi Obase urged his subjects to vote for credible candidates of their choice.
He listed a number of projects carried out by Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje within Sabon Gari, insisting that there was need to support and encourage good governance by the electorate.
The Town Hall meeting was attended by hundreds of Yoruba political cum community leaders across the 44 Local Government Areas of the state who promised to take the message back to their members.
