Dilioha declares for Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency seat, promises women inclusion, grassroots development

By Stella Odueme

A female aspirant under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mrs. Angela Dilioha , has declared her intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for the Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency, pledging to bring a new wave of grassroots development and stronger representation for women, youths, and underserved communities.

Speaking during the submission of her nomination form on Tuesday at the ADC office in Abuja, Dilioha said her decision to contest was driven by calls from her constituents, particularly women in the constituency, who believe a female representative would better articulate their needs and address longstanding challenges.

According to her, the constituency has been represented by men over the years without significant progress, prompting community members to rally behind her candidacy.

She stated that her aspiration is not limited to women’s issues but extends to the broader needs of youths, elders, and rural dwellers across the federal constituency.

The aspirant identified education, water supply, road infrastructure, and insecurity as some of the major challenges facing communities in the area.

She emphasized that if elected, her priority would be to improve access to education, especially in villages lacking primary schools, while also pursuing federal interventions in basic infrastructure and security.

Dilioha, originally from Benue State and married into Enugu State, said she holds a Higher National Diploma in Business Administration and is engaged in private business.

She noted that her grassroots connection stems from years of supporting women and children through scholarship schemes and empowerment initiatives.

She expressed confidence in her chances at the polls, saying she believes the forthcoming election will be free and fair, with the electorate—particularly youths—determined to protect their votes and ensure transparency in the process.

On the strength of her political party, Dilioha described ADC as “very strong” at the grassroots level, revealing that local meetings are already being held across villages to mobilize support for the party ahead of the elections.

The aspirant also disclosed that her political journey dates back to her student days, when she served as vice president of her department during her campus years, describing herself as a “fighter” prepared to challenge the status quo and secure victory at the polls.
