Kano State Hospital Management Board (KHMB) has concluded plans to promote 421 staff in its continued effort of boosting the capacity, efficiency and morale of its staff to always render the most required service delivery in secondary health facilities.
The selected staff are to gain the promotion in July 2022 senior staff promotional interview.
In his message to the staff, the Director General of the Board, Dr. Nasiru Alhassan Kabo enjoined them to redouble efforts and rededicate themselves towards the discharge of their responsibilities in various health facilities.
Dr. Kabo said the Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje -led administration, “is very kind to health personnel of the state as they are being promoted as at when due without any delay.”
He stressed that, “this is aimed at gingering them up to always keep the people of Kano state in good condition of health.”
The DG noted that promotion exercise is basically conducted in order to test the ability of a staff and ascertain his/her capacity with a view to finding out if he/she is really well prepared for the next level in the civil service.
He revealed that the standard committee was formed which comprises all units and departments of the Board as well as some selected professionals in various fields of healthcare system to conduct the verbal interview to each and every staff due for promotion and provide grades based on answers he/she provides.
The Director General appreciated the moral and financial support of Governor Ganduje to healthcare system of the state, maintaining that, “Governor Ganduje excels his counterparts in the country in terms of giving all the needed attention to health sector since coming on board in 2015.”
He commended members of the promotion committee for their endurance, steadfast and ability to ensure that the promoted staff were equal to the task.
In his remarks during the exercise, the Head of the promotion committee, who is also the Board’s Director of Administration and General Services, Bashir Ado Gaya (Sarkin Fadar Gaya), called on health workers across the state to be attending to patients with simplicity and in polite manners so as to give them the best of services they need, adding that, “this will give patients sense of relief even before they are prescribed with drugs.”
Sarkin Fadar Gaya reminded them of the present administration’s special consideration to their timely promotion and charged them to reciprocate the gesture by putting all the required efforts they are expected to in the discharge of their duties.
He, however, insisted that the Board will not condone carelessness to duty from any health worker so much that whoever is found violating the standard rules and regulations and the professional ethics, will definitely be dealt with according to the laid down rules and regulations of the state civil service.
The Director called on the potential promoted staff to develop self-confidence, shun panic and answer the questions accordingly, assuring them that the questions will not be out of their areas of specializations and are simple and straight forward devoid of twist.
Sarkin Fadar Gaya then extolled Dr. Nasiru Alhassan Kabo for his unwavering support to the promotion exercise whenever the time comes, stressing that the Direcror General is not hesitant in approving all the necessary logistics required for the successful conduct of any promotion exercise which is a clear indication of his concern for the welfare of his staff.
