The chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Maikalangu has given an insight into why he would not fight back those that worked against him becoming the chairman.
He said fighting back will distract him from delivering dividends of democracy to the AMAC residents .
Maikalangu explained that his victory came from God, which according to him, is an endorsement from above that will not be challenged by humans.
The chairman, who was addressing his supporters at an event recently, said after the election the administration was confronted with so many challenges, but God intervened and gave them victory which was confirmed by the Court.
“Where we come from, we always forgive our enemies, I pray that they should change from their evil ways. Fighting our detractors will affect the beautiful programmes we have designed for our people.
“Whosoever won election, the person should be allowed to work, everything on earth has time, if it is not your turn today, tomorrow will be your turn.
“I started as a councillor in AMAC, I never dreamed that I will be chairman of the council one day, but by God’s grace today, I am the chairman. So, let us learn to be patient in life”
Maikalangu also explained that despite the challenges being faced by his administration he would not give up on doing his best for the people.
“The council is faced with a lot of challenges, starting from being denied of some items, I believe that one day it shall be over.
“We have not achieved much as a council because of the distraction since I took over, things that I have to do that will benefit you I am being denied, but very soon those things will come.
“This year, we are going to design so many Programmes that will help the women, the women empowerment will be zone by zone, the programmes will bring financial gains and many more others”.
