The Church of Nigeria(Anglican Communion).Diocese of Nike,yesterday poured encomiums and equally presented various gifts items to Prof.Chinedu Nebo and his wife for their immeasurable services to God and humanity.
The accolades on Prof. Nebo and his wife was at the special thanksgiving service to mark his retirement from administrative services he is rendering to the church, having attained 70 years of age,as stipulated in the constitution of the church.
The special thanksgiving service which was held at St Cyprain’s Cathedral, Abakpa Nike was also to mark the 45th wedding anniversary of Prof. Chinedu Nebo and Mrs Nebo.
Prof. Nebo who attained the spiritual portfolio of a Venerable in the Anglican Church, is also an academia who was once appointed as Vice Chancellor of University of Nigeria Nsukka(UNN) and have served the nation as Minister of Power.
Presenting a biography of Prof. Nebo before the church, Venerable Prof Emmanuel Uzuegbunam. the Vicar of St Peter’s Church(Anglican communion),Thinkers Corner Enugu, stressed Prof. Nebo beaquethed honest and examplary character without blemish in his dedicated services in the house of God and in various other positions he held while serving the society.
Prof Uzuegbunam who also lectures at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka,said Prof. Nebo’s biography which is chronicled as a book is meant to be a guide for Nigerian Youths that they can still achieve success through hard work devoid of corruption and without cutting corners.
The Primate Church of Ngeria, Most Rev Henry Ndukuba in a chat with news men thereafter, corroborated Prof Uzuegbunam’s attestation on Prof. Nebo’s success through dint of hard work and trust in God. He said Prof Nebo rendered selfless and undisputed services to the church and in the society with utmost faith in the power of Gnd. Quite unlike many people who indulge in occultic powers to gain position or appointments.
He disclosed that the retirement of Prof. Nebo from administrative services of the church is in line with the constiution of the church,stating he still remains a venerable in the church.
Speaking earlier, the Bishop of Nike diocese described Prof Nebo as retired but not tired. He said he will assign him with the role of monitoring the needs of churches within Nike diocese,especially those in the rural communities,so to enable the diocese plan on how to assist them.
Prof Nebo’s thanksgiving and retirement service was attended by the Enugu state Govermr. Rt hon Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Prince Arthur Eze. Chief Uche Nnaji, Enugu APC governorship candidate, the state chairman of APC,Barr Ugo Agballah, the DG Peter Mbah campaign organisation,Chief Ikeje Asogwa, Dr Eric Oluedo and many other politicians.
The Archbishop of Enugu ecclessiastical province who is also the Bishop of Enugu diocese, Most Rev.Dr. Emmanuel Olisa Chukwuma. the Bishop of Nsukka diocese, Eha Amufu diocese etc also were in attendance.
