Hunters discover several PVCs hidden in bush in Anambra

Three days to the 2023 general elections, some hunters in Nnewi, Nnewi North local government area of Anambra state have discovered a bag full of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) produced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in the forest.

A trending video shows the hunters whose names were not provided with the bag containing the PVCs in a bush in Akamili, a community in Nnewi on Tuesday. They later took it to the premises of a popular radio station, Authority FM.

A staff of the radio station who identified himself in one of the trending videos as Mr Ikenna Okonkwo, said they have gone through the PVCs and discovered that most of them belonged to the people of Nnewi North LGA.

He also confirmed that the PVCs have all been taken to their village leadership (Obi of Umudim) community in Nnewi.

When contacted, the station manager of Authority FM, Mr Charles Ede, confirmed that the PVCs were brought to his office when he was off duty and his staff members available made video and asked those yet to collect their PVCs to come for their identifications and collections.

“I was off duty when the incident happened, but one of my staff members received the hunters when they came. I will send you his number,” he said.

The INEC PRO in Anambra, Dr Kingsley Agu, could not be reached to comment.
