From Maurice Okafor, Enugu
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Enugu state, Mr. Peter Mbah, has promised to provide enabling environment that will enable small and medium scale businness units to thrive in Enugu state by abolishing multiple taxes on such ventures.
Dr Mbah also promised to secure N100 billion trust fund from which traders can access loans to propel their businnesses.
The Pinnacle Oil and Gas magnate, who also diversified in other businness ventures, equally promised to build special hospitals that will cater for the health needs of traders in Enugu state.
The Enugu state PDP governorship candidate revealed his packages for the traders on Friday, March 3, as overwhelmed traders at the market endorsed him as their preferred candidate in the March 11, governorship election in the state.
The chairman of Ogbete Market traders association, Mr. Stephen Aniagu, acknowledged Mbah’s manifesto for economic development as a masterpiece and emcopassing for development of the state.
Several traders spoke in the same direction, stating that his experiences, exposure and assured commitment are the reason for their endorsement of Mbah.
They expressed hope that the PDP flagbearer, having been successful in his businness ventures through dint of hardwork, is better placed in solving the problems of traders in the overall interest of activating economic growth of the state.
From all indications, the endorsement of Dr Peter Mbah by Ogbete market traders is a great boost in his chances of winning the March 11 governorship election.
This is based on the fact that Ogbete Main market is the biggest market in Enugu state with thousands of traders.
The PDP candidate also visited traders at the Relief Market, popularly known as New market thereafter.
The visits were part of activities of rounding up his campaigns, which enabled him to take note of the peculiar needs of each market in the state into models, for even development, if he assumes office.
