Hon Barr.Chijioke Edeoga from indication will emerge as the winner of the just concluded governorship in Enugu state.This stems on the fact that the electorates in the state still demonstrated their belief in Labour party as the true and only justified political party of the ‘Obidient Movement’cultivated around Mr Peter Obi,the LP Presidential candidate in the February 25,presidential election.
THE AUTHORITY checks in Enugu revealed that based on the premise of Obidient Movement,most of the electorstes in Enugu metropolis cast their votes for the Labour party governorship candidate,Edeoga and other candidates of the party in the senatorial and state house of assembly elections.
As at the time of filling this report,LP candidates won in all the polling units at Okpara square and New haven primary school,the Independence layout,and many other thickly populated settlements of the metropolis.
Reports gathered from Enugu East senatorial district popularly referred as Nsukka cultural zone indicates that the electorates massively repeated their support for LP candidates just as they did during the February 25 election.
Amifdst reports of hired thugs who were imported into various parts of Enugu North senatorial district to cause violence and instil fears on the voters from turning out enmssse to cast their votes, the law enforcement agencies controlled the situation.
Barr Edeoga who voted at his country home,Eha Amufu ward,Jsi uzo local government area,told news men that there were attempts to disrupt the election at Uzo Uwani,Nsukka,Isi Uzo council areas,but the law enforcement agencies lived up to expectations,of which many of the hoodlums were arrested.
From Enugu West senatorial district, it was gathered the electorates in Aninri/Awgu/Oji River federal constiuency,msssively voted for Lcandidates. Checks revealed that Labour party is enjoying strong support base from that axis popularly known ss ‘Greater Awgu’because the running mate to Edeoga,Dr John Nwokeabia,hails from that axis of Enugu West senatorial district,precisely Achi,in Oji River council area.
The PDP governorship candidate,Dr Peter Mbah,who voted in his Owoh community in Nkanu East local government area overeheasbefore filling this report Dr Peter Mbah,who voted in his community at Owoh,in Nkanu East council area,overwhelmingly had maximum support of his people but the expected massive support from core Nkanu land was shared among himself,Mr Frank Nweke with APGA ticket and Chief Uche Nnaji,the APC governorship candidate who hails from Akpugo community in Nkanu West council area,same council area with Frank Nweke (jnr)who hails from Ozalla community.
Nweke defied every pressure to quit the race and throw his weight behind Dr Mbah with PDP ticket. He equally refuted every media publication to that effect. The NNPP governorship candidate,Dr Cajethan Ezeh,ptior to the end of campaigns on Thursday,March 16,stepped down for Dr Peter Mbah.Twelve other governorship candidates from the minority parties,earlier on stepped down for the Pinnacle Oil and Gas Boss,Dr Peter Mbah.
