Guber polls: APC retains Ogun, Jigawa, Lagos, Kwara, Yobe, Katsina, PDP wins Oyo, Akwa Ibom, leads in Kaduna, Rivers, Delta, Taraba,

·         LP leads in Abia, Enugu, NNPP in Kano

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) looks set to win the majority of the 28 states where the governorship election was conducted last Saturday, as it has retains its stake in states like Lagos, Ogun, Kwara, Yobe, Kattsina and Jigawa

This is as the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has also retained its governorship seat in Oyo and Akwa Ibom states

In Jigawa state, INEC declared the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Umar Namadi, as the winner of the governorship election in the state.

According to the result released by the Commission, Namadi polled a total of 618,449 votes, winning in 26 out of the 27 local government areas of the stae, leaving his closest challenger, Mustapha Lamido of the People Democratic Party (PDP),  to win only in his Birnin Kudu Local Government Area.

The candidate of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) Aminu Ibrahim, came a distant third with 37,156, even as he failed to win in any local governments. He was defeated by the APC candidate in his Ringim Local Government Area with 32,475 against his 7, 809. The PDP candidate came second in the council area with 12,318 votes.

The INEC collation officer for the governorship election in Jigawa, Zaiyanu Umar, announced that Namadi scored 618,449 of the total votes cast to beat Mr Lamido who polled 368, 726 votes

Incumbent Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, was also declared re elected by INEC in last Saturday’s governorship election in the state  

Abiodun defeated his closest rival, Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Abiodun polled 276,298 votes while Adebutu scored a total of 262,383 votes in the keenly contested poll. Candidate of the Africa Democratic Party’s Biyi Otegbeye who polled a total of 94,754 votes

In Yobe state, Governor Mai Mala Buni, was declared re-elected after winning in all the 17 local government areas of the state with a total of 317,113 votes.
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Sharif Abdulahi, came a distant second with a total score of 104,259

Announcing the results, at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Damaturu, the Returning Officer for the gubernatorial election in the state, Prof. Umar Pate, the VC of the Federal University of Kashere, Gombe state, said accredited voters are 459,492, valid votes 444,567 and total votes cast are 457,781

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has been declared the winner of the 2023 governorship election in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The APC was also declared winner in Kwara state, as Governor Abdul Razaq was re elected in the last Saturday’s election, after polling a total of 273,424 votes to beat his closest rival, Alhaji Yaman Abdullahi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 155,490 votes in the election.

Also in Katsina the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dikko Umar Radda has emerged winner of the Saturday, March 18 governorship poll.

Dikko, a former director of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency, polled 859,892 votes to beat Garba Yakubu Lado of PDP, who scored 486,620 votes.

Results released so far on Sunday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) saw the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, being declared winner of the election which was held last Saturday in the state.

Eno, according to INEC, polled a total of 354,548 votes to defeat his closest rival Sen. Bassey Akpan of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), who polled a total of 136, 262, while the candidate of the APC came third with a total of 129,602 votes.

Eno won 29 local government areas while the Young Progressives Party YPP Senator Bassey Akpan won his own local government area, IBIONO Ibom and Ikono LGAs.

In Benue State, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Fr Hyacinth Alia, is currently leading his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Fr Alia has won eight out of the 1 local government areas so far declared by INEC

The Roman Catholic priest, has garnered 194, 555 votes as against Titus Uba of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who has scored 99, 860 votes

The APC governorship candidates are also leading in Katsina, Niger and Ebonyi from results already declared by INEC as more results were  been declared by the election umpire as at the time of filling this reports

Also the major opposition party in Kaduna, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) may have positioned itself to upset the ruling APC as it is in the early lead with 28,147  votes from the results so far declared at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Kaduna

INEC had declared results from seven local government areas of Kaura, Giwa, Sanga, Kajuru, Makarfi, Ikara and Jaba.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has won only in Giwa and Ikara, while the PDP  won in five LGAs, of Kaura, Sanga, Kajuru, Jaba and Makarfi.

So far, PDP has so far polled a total of 149,577.APC has so far polled  121,430 votes.

The PDP candidates are also leading the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political parties candidates in Rivers, Delta, Taraba, according to the results so far released by INEC

The labour Party is however showing strength in Abia and Enugu states as it candidates are so far leading in the results declared by INEC, while the New Nigeria Peoples Peoples Party (NNPP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) are running neck – to – neck in Kano state
