The victory of Dr Peter Mbah,the Enugu PDP governorship candidate,in the March 18 governorship election is one victory too many for members of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)in Enugu state. This is based on the fact that it is the one and major position that salvaged the rooting of the party in Enugu state.
Aftermath of it’s abysmal sommersault to the Labour party(LP) in the February 18 Presidential and Nationak elections,Obviously due to the initially lesss rated’Obidient Movement’ both the stakeholders,those holding elective and appointive positions in the party,woke up from their slumber to ginger and re ignite their support for Dr Mbah,their candidate and the strategy eventually paid,as the PDP was able to curtail the eroding political prowess of LP that overwhelmed it in the February 18 elections,having lost seven out of the eight senatorials seats to Labour party which at the long run equally gripped two senatorial seats and PDP one.
The loss of the governorship election to LP as well would have been a great disaster and end of PDP in Enugu state, beyond imagination for a party that boasts and hard firm control of all elective positions in the state,17 local council areas of the state and the federal legislstors at the National assembly.
To have survived the envisaged political trauma is what is currently erupting joy in all nooks and cranny of the state,which originally habours political tentacles of PDP.
Checks revealed that from Enugu East senatorial district of the state,different pressure groups,Youth groups and associations have continued to pour encomiums on Dr Peter Mbah while celebrating his victory at the polls.
The same report comes from Enugu North senatorial district(Nsukka cultural zone) where strong the Campaign Director,State PDP campaigns,Chief Ikeje Asogwa and several other staunch PDP stakeholders hails from.
In Enugu West senatorial zone, the joy is enormous as most of the stakeholders put gallant efforts to deliver four out of the five local government areas that make up the didtrict back to PDP in the governorship and state assembly elections.
Awgu local government area in Enugu West council area is among the council areas where the stakeholders proved they are in control of their grass root through bebevolence and goodwil established over decades and by so doing enjoys their folloeership and can set the pace or political direction for them.
Prince Gilbert Chukwunta, a philantropist cum political technocrat was the man behind the madk in the recapturing of Awgu political direction,which enhanced overall victory of Dr Mbah at the governorship election. The ex PDP guber aspirant weathered the storm in all ramifications to ensure PDP also won the two state house of assembly seats of Awgu local government area.
Prior to the elections,Prince Chukwunta left his comfort zone and businness enterprise in Lagos back to Enugu,to emphasize that Dr Peter Mbah is the best candidate with experience and exposure to govern and grow Enugu state economy at this critical point in time.
Since thereafter his declaration for Peter Mbah during Enugu West PDP town hall meeting at Awgu local government headquarter mini stadium, Prince Chukwunta committed lots of material and human resources in the political project to realise his vision of Dr Peter Mbah to become the next governor of Enugu state.
With the dream realized,it turned into celebration time for Prince Chukwunta.his friends,political associates and more importantly his grassroot supporters.
The Obeagu Community in Awgu Local government area of Enugu State was the center of the cekebration on Sunday, 26th March, 2023. The creme de la creme of political stalwarts across Enugu West district and beyond joined in the celebration.
Speaking to newsmen, Chukwunta who was also the deputy director, public communications and campaign spokesperson (West) of the PDP state campaign council said Mbah is the right man for the job at this material time and Enugu couldn’t have voted any better.
He expressed optimism that Mbah has the capacity to work for Enugu and charged him to “go and work for Ndi Enugu, go and lift Enugu better than it’s.”
“In his manifesto, he said a lot and because of his proven record, we’ve absolute faith that he will deliver on his promises up to 85 percent and more.
Answering question,Prince Chukwunta said Obeagu community will be expecting from the Mbah administration, Prince Chukwunta said their health centre needs urgent attention.
“Our health centre is dilapidated, we need it upgraded even to a cottage hospital to serve our people. Mbah talked about over 10,000km of roads, we believe our people will benefit from it because we need good roads to take our farm produce to the cities.
Nnajiofor who represents Nkanu East Constituency in Enugu State House of Assembly assured them that “Mbah’s vision is very clear and he’s determined to make Enugu State one tye best 3 in the country where economy, peace, human development, ICT, tourism, education, rural and physical infrastructure will thrive.
He stated,“Mbah wants me to assure them that his manifesto will be implemented to the core and Obeagu will be implemented to the core.
