… Decorates DIG Egbetokun, AIGs Mba, Sadiq, Babaji, 54 other officers

Since his appointment as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) by President Muhammadu Buhari in April 2021, Usman Baba Alkali has promoted 43,601 police officers across all ranks.
The breakdown of those promoted include 22,991 senior police officers and 20610 officers from the rank of Inspectors and rank and file.
The IGP disclosed this at the decoration ceremony of 58 newly promoted senior officers at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, Thursday.
Officers from other ranks who benefited from recent promotion will be decorated in their various commands and formations across the country.
The breakdown of the 58 officers who were decorated include one Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, 24 Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) and 33 Commissioners of Police (CPs).
The IGP reiterated that his leadership will continue to give priority to the promotion and well fare of officers as a way of motivating them.
“It is worth mentioning that under my leadership over 43601 police personnel across all ranks have been promoted. This comprises a total of 22,991 senior police officers 20610 police officers from the rank of Inspectors and rank and file.
“I can assure you that the policy of ensuring regular promotion as at when due will be sustained and this form part of my policing agenda as a motivation factor,” the IGP said.
While noting that the promotion of the 58 decorated officers was based on vacancy, seniority and merit, the IGP said that: “It is worthy of note that the capacity of human asset of any organization, particularly as the strategic management level is fundamental to the attainment of its goals and aspirations. The Nigeria police is not an exception to this assertion.”
He, therefore, called on the newly promoted officers, “to deploy your wealth of experience, to work with the force leadership to find solution to resolving security challenges in the country.”
Some of the officers that were decorated include AIGs Matthew Akinyosola, Jonathan Towuru, Abiodun Alabi, Akande Sikiru, Abimbola Shokoya, Yekini Ayoku, Olofu Adejoh, Aliyu Garba, Idrisu Dabban, Yusuf Usman, Haladu Ros-Amson, Babaita Ishola, Alexander Wannang, Ari Muhammed, Mamman Sanda, Sadiq Abubakar, Frank Mba, Benjamin Okolo, Oyediran Oyeyemi, Babaji Sunday, Arungwa Udo, Yusuf Chiromawa, and thirty-three Commissioners of Police.
Those in attendance to add colour to the ceremony include Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Chairman, Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Haliru Jika; Chairman, House Committee on Police Affairs, Bello Kumo; Former Governor of Zamfara State, Ahmad Sani Yerima; the POWA President, Hajia Hajara Usman Alkali Baba, the paramount ruler of Yewa in Ogun State, HRM Oba Dr. Kehinde Olugbenle and many others.
