 By Hassan Zaggi

As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to celebrate the 2023 World Health Day, the Executive Director of International Society of Media in Public Health (ISMPH), Chief Moji Makanjuola, has advised governments at level to make the attainment of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) a priority.

She made the call in a statement to mark the World Health Day, in Abuja, Friday.

She reiterated that holistic health is every human being’s right and that health right is an inalienable to life.

“As we celebrate the totality of our health and wellbeing in our planet home, let us remember that the earth is like our skin – the only one of it that we can call our home.

“We must be intentional about health. Governments at all levels must make Universal Health Coverage a priority,” she said.

Chief Moji, however, insisted that: “Health Insurance must be made to create access to qualitative and affordable health for all – including the vulnerable amongst us. Life and health are not about lack of funds.

“Sustainable Health financing is the right of all to create access to and demand for equitable, affordable and qualitative health for all – wherever they may be.”

She argued that health should not be a function of socio-economic status, or educational status.

The ISMPH Executive Director, therefore,  congratulated all partners in the health sector for celebrating the 2023 World Health Day, assuring that ISMPH will continue to sustain its partnership with all stakeholders for improved health sector in Nigeria.
