From Everest Ezihe, Owerri
Dr. Ikenna Onuoha says the All Progressives Congress, APC and its governorship candidate, Senator Hope Uzodinma are jittery over the popularity and chances of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship flag bearer in Imo State, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu to win the November 11th election.
Onuoha who is the Special Adviser (Media) to the PDP Governorship Candidate disclosed this in a press statement he released to news men in Owerri, Imo State capital added that “PDP resolved to secure the state from the stranglehold of APC and Uzodinma is non negotiable, not even blackmail, propaganda, fake news, or threat, against our candidate and members of our party will ever save them from the colossal defeat.
“It is ridiculous to note that twenty four hours after our candidate addressed the 305 Ward Chairmen, Women/Youth Leaders, LGA and Zonal Chairmen of PDP at the campaign office, Uzodinma and his renegades went beserk and started to peddle falsehood that our flag bearer has chickened out from the Governorship race.
“This is an evidence that Anyanwu’s overwhelming support across the state unsettles Uzodinma and his party” he insisted.
He further pointed out that, “for the avoidance of doubt, our Governorship candidate was invited by the PDP reconciliation committee headed by Hon. Bonny Ebili to address our party officials across the state on the need to work as a formidable and viable team. In a bid to inject a lasting peace and to avoid organized distractions from mischief makers and mudslingers.
“Senator Anyanwu advised both his Aides and PDP members to discontinue further actions aimed at insulting those that left our party. Anyanwu instead wished them well in their future political endeavours” he noted.
Onuoha pointed out what the PDP candidate tried to achieve is to reduce the level of distraction and tension as a result of their resignations, and to concentrate fully on strategic ways to win the poll.
He said it point blank that at no time through out his speech, did our party candidate say that he was pulling out from the race. What Uzodinma and his outgoing administration are trying to achieve is to deceive and mislead the public having seen that PDP in Imo state is fully intact and the only headache of his life.
The media icon also said that, “let it be known to our party members and Imo people in general that Senator Anyanwu is fully out, and battle ready within the ambit of the law to wrestle power from the APC government and ensures that the (alleged) ongoing organized killings and kidnappings in the state become a thing of the past.
“To show that Senator Anyanwu is on a genuine cause to liberate our state, the level of support he garners across the state on daily basis is so massive and intimidating that the present administration of the State has resorted to cheap propaganda” he alleged..
