The Chief Medical Director of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi has reiterated his resolve to make NAUTH the best hospital in Nigeria. This, according to him, is the reason the current hospital management has worked tirelessly to develop and commision the Permanent site of the hospital.
Dr Ugboaja who recently received the National Honour of Officer of the Order of Niger(OON) in recognition of his efforts at developing the hospital and providing quality health care services to Nigerians stated that when completed, the Permanent site will serve as a site for nedical tourism in Nigeria where people will come from far and near to recieve quality. The CMD took the opportunity of the matriculation ceremony to thank the various stakeholders who have supported the hospital in its drive to be number one in the country.
He paid glowing tributes to the untiring efforts of the Royal father of the day, His Royal Majesty, Igwe KON Orizu III, for all his support including the building of ICT center for the hospital.
The CMD, who was represented by the CMAC, Dr Ezejiofor, made these comments during 23rd matriculation and capping ceremony of
College of Nursing & Midwifery of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi held on Saturday, 15th July 2023, held at Gilbert Uzodike Auditorium, NAUTH Nnewi.
The CMD congratulated the Provost of the College and her team for their landmark achievements which he noted is in line with the new dream of NAUTH management to make the health institution one of the best hospitals in Nigeria.
He charged the students to brace up for the challenges of Nursing training which is not an easy one.
In her welcome address at the occasion, the Provost of the College, Dame Joy Aralu noted that two hundred and forty seven students who have passed through the tough selection process and a rigorous academic exercise made it to the point of matriculation and capping.
She pointed out that the college is one of the best of such colleges in the country and has a reputation for producing high-profile nursing personnel.
“Let me still say as a matter of emphasis that we give qualitative nursing education to our students and maintain zero tolerance to all forms of examination practices and indiscipline.” Dame Aralu stressed.
Prof Anthonia Chinweuba of University of Nigeria Nzukka (UNN), Enugu campus, the matriculation lecturer delivered a paper on “Our Nurses,Our Future; Improving Nursing Practice Through Education and ICT Synergy.
The highlights of the ceremony included the blessing of the matruculants by the highly revered Nnewi monarch, HRH, Igwe KON Orizu 111, who was Royal Father of the day, the Capping of the matriculants and presentation of gifts to the outstanding students
