Correctional Centre: 11 inmates regains freedom from custody

No fewer than 11 inmates of the Afikpo Correctional Centre has been freed by the Chief Judge of Ebonyi state, Justice Elvis Ngene.

The fred were those with  minor offences who were released unconditionally by the Chief Judge as part of his constitutional duties.

According to Justice Ngene, 16 matters were treated, while 10 inmates were released on bail, one discharged, while five others were further remanded in custody.

They Chief Judge  said that more attention was given to those who have been in detention for years without trial, the juveniles and the sick, among others.

He enjoined  the released inmates to be good ambassadors of the state  and desist from acts capable of attracting the long arm of the law in order to be useful and add value in the  society.

Mr. Benjamin Kalu (26) and Mr. Opkara both expressed joy over their release and pledged to be good citizens.

They also appreciated Ebonyi State Government for facilitating their release.
