All the fifteen Enugu state commissioner-nominees sent to the State House of Assembly by Governor Peter Mbah for screening hard it tough yesterday but eventually scaled the hurdle as they were bombarded with questions to test their ability in superintending over government business by the state legislators.

Both Lloyd Ekweremadu, the son of a former Deputy Senate President,Senator Ike Ekweremadu and Ada Chukwu, the daughter of ex Governor Sullivan Chime,demonstrated brevity and broad knowledge of issues amidst their youthfulness and lack of previous experience in government business.
Among those who have been involved in government business in the state from previous administration include Deacon Okey Ogbodo, Prof. Emmanuel Obi, Dame Ugochi Madueke and Dr. Kingsley Udeh. A veteran broadcaster Aka Eze Aka and a journalist cum politician,Comrade Malachy Agbo also scaled through the screening exercise.
Responding to a question , a technocrat cum politician, Engr. Lawrence Eze answered that if given portfolio as the state commissioner for Works, he would ensure that contractors build quality roads that would stand the test of time. He stressed that most roads wear off after commissioning because they do not have solid foundation.
His words,”If roads were built according to standard, they will stand the test of time. A good foundation has to be laid to ensure that roads do not wear off shortly they are built or constructed,” he said.
Another technocrat Engr. Gerald Otiji said if designated on his relative area of specialization, , he would explore gas deposits in the state to ensure Enugu state enjoys sustainable energy.
He “With your cooperation Enugu can go on gas for 30 years and each local government can have 50 mega watts of power.”.
The above confirmation is further indication that government business under Governor Peter Mbah is excelling in Enugu state,with a harmonious relationship with the legislative alms of government . The state legislators before now okayed Governor Mbah’s request to appoint about fifty special advisers into his cabinet . The list of the nominees are yet to be made public.
