DEPOWA urges youths to be torchbearers of positive change

The President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs. Oghogho Musa has challenged students to take up the mantle of leadership as torchbearers of positive change in their communities.

Mrs Musa gave the charge at the graduation ceremony of the DEPOWA Primary & Secondary School, Mogadishu Barracks, Abuja.

She charged the youths to embrace the role of being exemplary ambassadors that will shape a bright future for Nigeria development.

The DEPOWA President applauded the teachers’ commitment to fostering a conducive learning environment and thanked parents for their unwavering support in shaping the students’ futures.

Musa said, “students are the future leaders of this great nation, you hold within you the power to steer Nigeria towards progress and development.

“I urge each one of you to be good ambassadors not only for your families and schools but also for our beloved country. Embrace the values of discipline, integrity, and resilience, for these are the virtues that will guide you towards a brighter future.”

The Commandant DEPOWA, Roqibat Akerele-Alatise commended the National President for her unwavering support in fostering the school’s growth and expressed gratitude to parents for entrusting their children’s education to DEPOWA.

Commander Alatishe lauded the graduates for their tenacity, emphasizing the important role of education in shaping society.

The outgoing Head Boy, Nuhu Joseph, in his impactful speech reflected on the transformative influence of the school on his life and that of his peers. He extended heartfelt gratitude to the teachers for their dedicated efforts in nurturing him and his fellow students. Joseph thanked DEPOWA’s President for her motherly presence, concluding by affirming their commitment to embody the values instilled by DEPOWA.

The event showcased lively performances by pupils and students, followed by the presentation of awards to exceptional students across various classes.

Miss George Layota, the valedictorian, received multiple accolades and a scholarship from DEPOWA’s President.
