In an effort to eradicate Gender Based Violence (GBV) across Africa, the Spotlight Initiative Africa Regional Programme (SIARP) has concluded plans to host its 2nd Annual Review and Learning Forum in Lagos, Nigeria.
The review meeting which will hold between August 22 and 24, 2023, will bring together representatives from the eight Spotlight Initiative countries, as well as key partners and stakeholders.
The aim is to evaluate effective programmatic interventions at regional and national levels.
A statement by the United Nation Population Fund (UNFPA) explained that the goal is to emphasize the collective mission to eradicate gender-based violence (GBV) across Africa.
It is also to identify ways to deepen impact, and find innovative approaches to sustain the impact of the program among African Union member states.
The Initiative, the statement said, is dedicated to achieving substantial advancements in the efforts to combat GBV in Africa.
“These annual review sessions serve as a pivotal platform for fostering learning and enhancing the overall impact.
“The forum facilitates the exchange of knowledge and experiences among implementing agencies, civil society, and governmental bodies, thereby promoting mutual learning and collaboration.
The Spotlight Initiative is a collaboration involving the United Nations, the African Union, and the European Union.
“With funding from the European Union, its implementation is facilitated by several UN agencies including UNDP, UN Women, UNFPA, and UNICEF,” the statement noted.
