A group, Taraba State Women for Growth have described as a relief the plan by the state government to embark on aggressive tree planting campaign.
The State Commissioner of Environment and Climate Change, Hajiya Aishatu Barde, had earlier disclosed the plan, saying it was necessitated by the aftermath of the recent flood disaster in parts of the state.
The Commissioner said the governor has intensified efforts to bring relief materials to communities facing ecological challenges.
Reacting to the development, Taraba State Women for Growth in a press release on Monday expressed optimism that the Agbu Kefas administration will bring smiles to the face of Tarabans who have suffered environmental degradation, that has affected livelihood of people in some parts of the state.
The press release signed by the Convener of the group, Mrs Dorathy Labo said Governor Kefas has within a very short time shown big determination to tackle the various environmental challenges in the state.
“The various moves by the state government gives us hope that very soon, environmental challenges will be a thing of the past in Taraba State.
“We also salute the State Commissioner of Environment and Climate Change, Hajiya Aishatu Barde, who is bringing her expertise to bear in the State. Her appointment is that of a square peg in a square hole.”
The group further hailed all the reach out to international partners, saying it is indication that the Governor Kefas wants a sustainable remediation plan for affected areas.
