Anambra communities want boundaries properly delineated

From Isaac Ojo, Awka

The people of Amudo village in Awka and Okukwa as well as Egbeagu villages in Amansea community have called on Anambra State government to ensure proper delineation of boundaries between the two communities.

The affected communities made this call during the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) before the state government’s boundary committee, a move aimed at preventing future boundary clashes or disputes among themselves.

In their seperate speeches, both communities claimed that they know their boundaries as established by their ancestors, as a result, are not having any disputes or boundary misunderstanding among themselves.

They explained that they want the state government to come in to gazette and establish the boundaries to become a permanent boundary to avert future boundary disputes.

Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim in his comment commended both communities for being civil and  tolerant as well as pioneering the peace moves.

He assured them that Soludo’s administration will act accordingly.

“At the state boundary committee, we help communities to save lives and resources. No meaningful development will be birthed or sited in any community experiencing boundary disputes of any sort.

“Tell those people who are fermenting restiveness to have a  rethink and channel those resources into meaningful community development that would benefit all instead of arming jobless youths,” he said.
